Christy and Jacob’s Real Wedding – Bremond, Texas
It’s not everyday I am privileged to profile the wedding of two authentic American heroes. Christy is a firefighter and Jacob is a law enforcement officer. The couple exchanged vows on November 9, 2013 on the rolling hills of Christy’s grandmother’s farmland.

They planned their DIY rustic country wedding on a budget. The results were nothing short of spectacular. It shows that with a little ingenuity and effort, one can have a beautiful wedding within any budget.
Inspired by the natural surroundings, Christy meticulously planned a charming and homespun dream wedding with authentic Texas flair. She even grew the squash, potatoes, and green beans used in the reception dinner side dishes. Impressive, huh?
Family and friends joined in the planning to ensure a romantic and personal wedding day for the couple. Christy’s father and uncle built a beautiful wooden altar with wisteria. Her aunt designed the predominately purple and eggplant florals. The main dish was cooked by the minister. Jeanie Bailey a family friend made the rustic wedding cake. The too cute for words police cruiser groom’s cake was created by Christy’s cousin Tess Phillips.
The ceremony and reception were decorated by Christy and her mother. They explored local second hand and antique stores looking for the perfect ornamentations. And boy did they score!
I am especially in love with the vintage yellow and blue wooden doors at the chic rustic “entry” to the ceremony site. Vintage wooden frames and flower carts, basket, and wreaths embellish the entryway. Two old metal milk cans with palm leaves embrace the altar. Mason jars with flowers decorated the aisle.
Christy’s beautiful wedding dress was purchased from Nolen’s Formal Wear in Bryan, Texas. She added the custom-made lace, long sleeved bolero. In addition, Christy sewed the adorable flower girl dress. Bridesmaids wore one shoulder long purple dresses purchased from David’s Bridal.
In true heroic fashion, Christy rode to the ceremony in a police vehicle with lights and sirens blaring. For her bridal portraits, the Bremond Fire Department graciously loaned their antique fire truck.
