Brooklyn’s Bridal Photo Shoot at The Dallas Arboretum

Brooklyn’s bridal photo shoot at The Dallas Arboretum. When I share with people that I am Wedding Wishes’ editor, they invariably respond “that must be a fun business because it is such a happy time.” I heartily agree. And my joy is multiplied when I profile a bride like Brooklyn Korinek. Her wedding story is sweet and inspirational with many personal touches.

Brooklyn’s Bridal Photo Shoot at The Dallas Arboretum

Brooklyn’s bridal photo shoot was held at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in Dallas. This gem is located at 8525 Garland road on the shores of White Rock Lake in east Dallas. The Dallas Arboretum is a prized destination for weddings, and bridal and engagement photography.

It was a fitting locale for Brooklyn’s bridals as her first date and engagement with then fiancé Westin was at the Arboretum.

The day started out with a weather forecast all brides dread: stormy and rainy. Brooklyn’s photographer Shawn Marie Verner of Fairy Tale Photography graciously moved the shoot up several hours to preempt the bad weather. Brooklyn’s family was on hand to offer reassurance and multiple opportunities for smiles and laughter.

Brooklyn and Westin wed on May 9, 2014 at Arapaho Baptist Church in Garland. Like many brides, getting ready for the ceremony with her bridesmaids was very sentimental. Westin, ever so thoughtful, delivered gifts pre-ceremony to Brooklyn via her sister. Keeping tradition, Brooklyn and Westin did not see each other before the wedding ceremony, but they spent a few minutes chatting and sharing a prayer while separated by a wall.

One of her treasured memories from the wedding was when the church doors opened and she walked the aisle arm in arm with her father gazing upon Westin.

At reception’s end, family and guests left the reception hall to prepare for the couple’s exit. Brooklyn and Westin shared a final dance together alone in the room reflecting on their day. Isn’t that a great idea?

I asked Brooklyn about special touches. She had so many great ideas that you may want to incorporate some into your own wedding.

One of her grandmother’s added lace to her veil. Brooklyn hopes to pass it down to her own children. Her “something borrowed” was a necklace worn from her other grandmother.

Of particular significance was when Brooklyn gave her “True Love Waits” ring to Westin during their ceremony. Given to her by her father, Brooklyn had worn the ring since 6th grade. “I have never seen it done before, but I have wanted to do it ever since my dad gave me the ring in 6th grade and we began praying for my future husband“, she commented.

Framed photos of their parents and grandparents weddings were displayed in the reception hall. The frames were arranged on family Bibles.

During the reception, Brooklyn opted out of the traditional bouquet toss. Instead, she asked all the married couples to the dance floor. The DJ worked his way up the years. Brooklyn’s grandparents were the final couple standing. She gave them her bouquet. So sweet. Unfortunately, her grandfather has since passed away, but Brooklyn felt it such a privilege to honor their marriage and commitment. They were married just shy of 54 years. Brooklyn and Westin aspire to the kind of marriage her grandparents enjoyed. We think they will and wish them all the best!
