Leah’s and Bobby’s Nautical Wedding in Charleston, South Carolina

The couple enjoy vacationing in the low country and have a fondness for the coast. So, the decision to have a nautical themed wedding in Charleston came easily.

Leah and Bobby wanted a “destination wedding” feel so they chose Memorial Day weekend so their guests could enjoy the beauty and culture that Charleston and the Low Country offer. Family and friends came from Indianapolis, Tucson, and Cleveland. For many, this was their first trip to South Carolina.

The day began with the groom and groomsmen relaxing at Old South Barber Spa with an old fashioned blade shave and hot towel facial. Leah and her bridesmaids enjoyed mimosas in their bridal suite at The Residence Inn, Riverview while having their hair and make-up done.

Passionate about golf, Bobby and his groomsmen sported golf tea boutonnieres. The bridesmaids wore charming short blue and white striped nautical themed dresses.

The celebration began at 2:00 with a Catholic wedding ceremony. After the wedding, Southern Jewel Photography captured pictures of the bridal party on the fisherman dock at James Island County Park. The reception began at 6:00 pm on the Carolina Girl Yacht with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Guests enjoyed a scrumptious palette of petite crab cakes with remoulade sauce, pimento cheese fried green tomato wedges, fried chicken, and waffle sliders. A buffet style dinner ensued.

Leah and Bobby are craft beer enthusiasts. For a unique wedding favor, they served crafted “wedding ale” made for the wedding by Terrapin Brewery.

After their introduction, the couple dance to Ed Sherran’s “Thinking Out Loud.” The party continued with music provided by DJ Mr. Bobby Clair. The couple were sent off with a bubble exit. They spent their honeymoon night at the Francis Marion Hotel.

They enjoyed an immediate, short honeymoon to Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina followed by a weeklong honeymoon in California in late October. They share a home in Simpsonville, South Carolina with their cat Nougat.

We are extend our warmest appreciation to Southern Jewel Photography for sharing Leah and Bobby’s wedding.
